 Short-Term Compensation Program for Employers
An organization is eligible to apply for this program through the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity when a reduction of hours for employees will prevent layoffs. An employer needs to prepare a plan outlining how a reduction of 10-40% of a full-time employee’s hours.

SBA Loans
Florida submitted a declaration of emergency at the end of this past week which opened up federal SBA loans. The federal government is offering loans up to $1 million (and $2 million in certain circumstances) at an interest rate of 3.75% with payment plans up to 30 years. Non-profits are also eligible and will receive an interest rate of 2.75%.

Florida Small Business Emergency Bridge Loan Program
As part of one of Governor DeSantis’ early declarations, he activated this program. Small businesses are eligible to receive $50,000 no interest loans from the state. Non-profits are not eligible for this program.

ULBC Small Business Loan Fund
The Small Business Loan Fund (SBLF) addresses the disparities in lending to minority and women-owned businesses by providing access to capital in the form of revolving loans with flexible terms and repayment schedules. In addition to direct lending, we partner with several small business lending institutions to offer loans from $25,000 to $5 million (Term Loans, SBA 7A Loans or Lines of Credit). The SBLF works with our Urban League Affiliates to provide loans Statewide however the ULBC’s focuses on the tri-county area of Broward, Palm Beach, and Miami Dade. Loans may be used for legitimate business purposes and include working capital, leasehold improvements, inventory, order fulfillment or increasing capacity through hiring or expansion. Additionally, our loans are coupled with pre- and post- loan counseling to provide guidance before applying to ensure that the business is ready, during the application process to facilitate the loan application process and post loan closing to provide management and technical assistance during the repayment period.
